To Search by Author
The best way to search by author is to enter the author’s last name
in the Author field. Since spelling counts, be sure you have the correct
spelling! If you are unsure, you can enter part of the author’s last or
first name. The search engine will do a match. For example if you enter
"Robert" you would get back the following authors: Roberta Gellis,
Robert K. Tannebuam, Robert Crais, and Robert B. Parker.
Remember, that we do not have every author that might interest you so
it is possible that your search will not bring back any books.
To Search by Title
Enter all or part of the title in the Title Field. It is not
necessary to know the exact title, but your best approach is to enter as
much of the title as you are sure of. We use the exact title in our
database with articles such as "A" "An" and "The" at the beginning of
the title. For example, to find the book "The Cat Who Blew the Whistle",
you can enter "Cat Who" or "Cat Who Blew the Whistle" or even "Cat" and
the book will be returned in the search results. The less specific you
are, the more likely you will get several titles returned. If you enter
"murder" in the Title field you will get back approximately 18 books!
Searching by more than one field
Generally, it is not necessary to search by more than one field
because our selection is not huge. Picking title, author or category
brings back a reasonable number of books. However, if you want to narrow
your search use more than one field. For example, we have many books in
our British category. So you may want to find all those books with
"murder" in the title that are British. To search by two fields, enter
the appropriate information in both fields then click on the Search Now
button.
The search engine brings back only those books that meet BOTH search
requirements. In the example above, those books in the British category
with "murder" in the title.
Capitalization doesn’t count
The search engine ignores capitalization. So "murder" is the same as
"Murder". top
